Laabam AI Translator · effective 21 October 2026

This notice and laabam.ai's policy

Laabam AI Translator is run by Laabam One Business Solutions Private Limited, 285-A, Anna Nagar East Cross Street, Sathamangalam, Madurai 625020, Tamil Nadu, India, the Data Fiduciary for the data described here under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Your account is your Laabam account, so laabam.ai's Privacy Policy applies to it in full: sign-in, your rights, the Grievance Officer, children and security. This notice adds what is specific to the translator.

What happens to the text you translate

  • It is sent to our translation engine (IndicTrans2, an open model from AI4Bharat) on servers in Mumbai, India, run by Vercel, translated, and sent back to you. We do not store it and do not use it to train any model.
  • If our engine cannot answer, text that is not in Tamil may be translated instead by Laabam Agni, our own model, on GPU servers we rent from RunPod, which can be outside India, including the United States. It is not stored there either.
  • Our logs record the languages, the length of the text, the time and which engine answered, never the text itself.
  • "Listen" reads the translation aloud with your device's own voices; some browsers send the text to their maker's speech service to do so.

What we keep

  • Signed in: how many tokens your translations used each day, in the same daily count as Laabam AI chat, to apply your daily allowance. Each day's count is kept for 90 days.
  • Not signed in: today's count in a signed cookie on your device (translator_guest_tokens), which expires after a day.
  • Your IP address is used for a moment to limit how many requests come in at once. Vercel, which hosts the site, keeps short-lived request logs (time, address, browser) for security and operations.

Cookies

The site uses only the sign-in cookies set through Supabase and the guest count above. It has no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Deleting your data

Delete your account at laabam.ai/settings (Settings → Delete account). It removes your daily counts with everything else in your Laabam account.

Your rights and complaints

You may ask for a summary of your data, have it corrected or erased, nominate someone to act for you, and raise a grievance. Write to our Grievance Officer, Selva Kumar T P, at grievance@laabam.ai or the address above. We acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 30 days; if you are not satisfied you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India. Laabam accounts are for people aged 18 or over.

Accuracy

Machine translation can be wrong, sometimes confidently. Do not rely on it for medical, legal or emergency matters, or anything where a mistake could cause harm.

Changes

If we change how data is handled, this notice changes with it and its date is updated.
